I like the frilly fungus. It looks like an ear that the tree decided to sprout.

Indeed, Jams. The great ballet of Life goes on (or something...)

Stan: It is a bit ear-like, or even shell-like (as in "a word in your..."). It's absolutely tiny too! I was surprised to see it there, as I would have thought that conditions were far too cold recently for such growth. Life is a hardy business...
I have been saddened to see a number of dead badgers on Wexford roads recently. there such beautiful creatures (from a distance, as I'd prefer not to get within swiping range of one of their paws).

Oh, that's sad about the badgers. I agree, they're beautiful creatures. They lived (and probably still live) in the woods near where I grew up, but I didn't see them very often.
